Hello all
What I want to talk about today is my ideas for multi touch apps in 2009. As you all know already this technology is starting to take flight. Before you know it it will be everywhere. At airports, bars, malls you name it. With this in mind I had a idea about a social network were you can access your info from any internet connection. One would be able to view photos and videos. Check email ect… The twist is that I want to be able to do this on the same machine and with other users maybe. I think we could make use of this knowledge and information to speed up our lives. Say your walking down the street and you see a t shirt you want to buy in a store window but you forgot your phone so you can’t get online and see you bank account balance. Well if the store had this app you would be able to check your balance and get the rockin t shirt. Your hungry and want to grab a bite to eat. You already saw you balance and know you have more money so on to the cool coffee shop. Good pick because one of your friends is there and asked you about the party the other night. So you tell him about it and remmber you left your phone with the pictures. Well because the coffee shop has the app you can just login and share your fun times. Now how does multi touch come into this picture? Well instead of having 5-10 computers for each of it’s guests you can have a interactive wall that 5-10 users can use and need only one computer. The cost for the wall is cheaper then buying 10 computers. See my point yet. I fell that we can all use some thing like this now.
I also have a idea for a multi touch mind mapping software that you can work with others to draw diagrams and work flows. I have already started planing this out. I feel that by the end of this year I will have something to show.
Hey guys I’m back. I have been so busy this past quarter year. I haven’t had the time to do much multi touch stuff. Thats about to change. 2009 is a fresh start for me. Going to give more time to the few apps I started and the 2 I have planed. It was hard not having the time to do this sooner but i feel that the time was spent learning new things and getting better at coding. I started using a few new tools like swftools pdf2swf and swfc learning to write sc scripts and compile swfs from scratch. I have been using Flashdevelop and loving it. This is were I say the best part is that it’s free. Thats so not true try it out yourself and see what I mean. Theres tons of things that make it bad ass. Also learned how to use eclipse with the FDT plug-in. What I still what to learn is python and ruby. Also red5 server if I have the time
Well gots to run
It’s been a while with no multi touch over here. I finally got my table out of storage and now I will hook it back back tonight. Can’t wait any longer. It’s been a month or so. I will have pictures and videos up soon of my LLP set up. Stay tuned.
Sorry for the delay guys. I have been busy with moving and all that comes with that. I moved back to the Big Apple. Yeah love to be back home. Anyway my table is in storage right now and waiting for me to get her out. I still plan on getting some more code done on the games that I have been doing. Also I will build a MTmini for the time being. So stay tuned for some updates. Won’t be long ![]()
I haven’t been able to post much lately. With work and writing my first multi touch app. I have been swamped. I have to finish my how to. If all goes well I might have time this weekend to do it. I still want to finish my DI set-up. Want I’m going to do with that is totally rebuild it. Add more IR LEDs for daylight use and get the wide angle lens for the web cam. After that it will be 100 % done and the rest will be cosmetic. The color I pick is a Black for the exterior of the table. I might use Plexiglas for the sides and use a black cardboard underneath it with my graphic. This way it will be almost air tight and can be wiped clean if need be. Well thats what I have going on right now. So bear with me and maybe this weekend I can finish the How to.
Today I spent a little time coding some extra stuff into the already awesome Touch!Library. This was created by Mark van Wijnen. This is a great how to code a simple flash multi touch app. The download for the source is here:
http://www.crystalminds.net/?page_id=11
I also have a download for you too use :
http://niceminds.com/downloads/hotBlocks.zip
hotBlocks has dragable touch code added also hittest code check it out : )

Check it out multi toucher’s…
3D Effects - Easily transform and animate any display object through 3D space while retaining full interactivity. Fast, lightweight, and native 3D effects make motion that was previously reserved for expert users available to everyone. Complex effects are simple with APIs that extend what you already know.
Enhanced Drawing API - Runtime drawing is easier and more powerful with re-styleable properties, 3D APIs, and a new way of drawing sophisticated shapes without having to code them line by line.
Visual Performance Improvements – Applications and videos will run smoother and faster with expanded use of hardware acceleration. By moving several visual processing tasks to the video card, the CPU is free to do more.
Nice!!! here is the link:
Over the last few night I have been deep into actionscript code. I have started writing my first app for the multi touch table. It really is anything. Just learning to get all the classes and stuff deployed into the right spot for it to work. I have a ton of ideas for programs and a few custom classes. I want to write a blue tooth class for AS3. I can’t find one anywhere. Maybe one of you might now of one around? If so send me a link. Also I will be sharing my first app with the NUI group.
